Welcoming the Elgin Imperials Sledge Hockey Club to the Wheelz Web Design Family

I’m excited to officially welcome the Elgin Imperials Sledge Hockey Club as a new client of Wheelz Web Design!

Based in Southwestern Ontario, the Elgin Imperials are more than just a hockey team—they’re a powerful example of inclusion, resilience, and community spirit. As a sledge hockey team, they give athletes of all abilities the chance to compete, grow, and inspire both on and off the ice.

We’ve recently started collaborating on improving their online presence through a refreshed website design and ongoing support. My goal is to help make their website a true digital home for the team—where fans, players, and supporters can easily access game schedules, team updates, and ways to get involved or donate.

  • Building a Modern Website for Canacron: My Experience

Building a Modern Website for Canacron: My Experience

When Canacron, a cannabis retail store in Mississauga, Ontario, needed a website, I was excited to take on the project. The goal was clear: create a modern, user-friendly site that would provide customers with easy access to store details and essential information.

    The Vision

Canacron wanted a website that reflected its brand—clean, professional, and welcoming. Since the cannabis industry is highly regulated, we also needed to ensure that the site complied with all legal requirements while remaining engaging and informative.

    The Development Process

I focused on designing an intuitive layout that made navigation seamless. Key elements of the site include:

    • Store details and contact information displayed prominently for easy access.
    • A responsive design, ensuring the site looks great on desktops, tablets, and smartphones.
    • SEO best practices implemented to improve search visibility and attract organic traffic.

    Challenges and Solutions

One of the challenges was ensuring the website met compliance standards for cannabis retail while still being visually appealing. I carefully structured the content to balance regulatory requirements with an inviting user experience.

Additionally, speed optimization was a priority. Since many customers browse on mobile devices, I optimized images and streamlined the site’s performance to ensure fast load times.

    The Final Outcome

The finished website, accessible at canacron.ca, is a sleek and functional platform that effectively represents Canacron’s brand. It provides customers with essential store information while maintaining an intuitive and visually appealing design.

This project was a rewarding experience, and I’m proud to have contributed to helping Canacron establish a strong online presence. If you’re looking for professional web design services that prioritize both aesthetics and functionality, feel free to reach out!

  • Long Point Island Hugger Tours: A Legacy of Eco-Tourism

Long Point Island Hugger Tours: A Legacy of Eco-Tourism

Long Point Island Hugger Tours (LPIHT) was a beloved eco-tourism company in Port Rowan, Ontario, offering guided boating experiences that showcased the natural beauty and rich history of the Long Point area. Established in 2017, LPIHT quickly became a favourite among locals and visitors alike, earning accolades as the top activity in the Port Rowan area by platforms like TripAdvisor and Google in 2022.

The tours provided by LPIHT were both fun and informative, allowing guests to explore the inner bay’s marshlands, observe diverse wildlife, and learn about the region’s ecological significance. One guest fondly recalled a sunset cruise, stating, “Seeing the inner bay from on the water was spectacular. Enjoyed the last swim of the season and a gorgeous sunset. What a great way to kick back and relax.”

In 2017, LPIHT collaborated with David Theriault, the future owner of Wheelz Web Design, to launch their official website. This marked their digital debut and helped expand their reach to a broader audience. Over the years, the company adapted to changing times, integrating the online booking platform Fareharbor in 2018 to enhance customer convenience.

However, as of January 27, 2025, Long Point Island Hugger Tours officially closed its doors. While the company is no longer in operation, its legacy lives on through the many unforgettable experiences it provided to those who explored the Long Point region by water.

Although the website is no longer active, their YouTube channel continues to showcase the beauty of the area and the wonderful experiences that guests once enjoyed.

While this chapter has come to a close, the memories made on Lake Erie’s waters in the bay will last a lifetime.
